| History |
Yesteryear Stockton identified with the waterfront area reaching from the San Joaquin River into the heart of downtown. This was also the site of founder Charles M. Weber's adobe and redwood home, a focal point of the community.
To revitalize the downtown area, a central open space for recreational activities in the historic heart of the city was sought. The Stockton City Council created "Waterfront Revival Task Force" chaired by Mayor Joan Darrah (1995). |
