Is sponsoring the Annual River of Words® 

Environmental and Agriculture Poetry and Art Contest

All Elementary, Junior High and High School students between the ages of 5 and 19 are invited to participate.  Awards will be given for First Place and Honorable Mention for the following grade categories: K-4; 5-8; and 9-12.  Certificates of Recognition will be presented to all participants.  An exhibition of students’ entries will be featured at the annual Earth Day Festival.

Art 

Art Rules:

  • No larger than 11”x17”
  • Should not be matted, framed laminated or folded
  • Charcoal or pastels should be sprayed with fixative
Poetry

Poetry Rules:

  • Limit poems to 32 lines in length
  • Type or neatly print in ink
  • Staple entry form to entry
  • ASL (American Sign Language) poems should be recorded on VHS videotape and be no longer than 3 minutes in length
  • For ASL entries, include a  brief poem summary that is typed or neatly printed, and attach to the videotaped entry
  • Poems in Spanish are most welcome
