Low Emission Vehicles

Hand pumping gasImproving our air quality is a big part of preserving our natural environment.

That is why the City of Stockton is making an effort to replace older city vehicles with new low emission vehicles such as gas-electric hybrids or bio-diesel vehicles. Bio-diesel vehicles use a biodegradable, non-toxic, clean burning fuel produced from renewable resources that will reduce the amount of CFC's in our air!

So what is Bio-diesel?

Bio-diesel is a bio-degradable, non-toxic alternative fuel, produced from resources like vegetable oil. Bio-diesel contains no petroleum, but it can be blended at any level with petroleum diesel to create a bio-diesel blend. It can be used in diesel engines with little or no modifications.

Currently, the city is exploring using the services of Community Fuels a local bio-diesel producer located at the Port of Stockton.

Community Fuels

  • Bio diesel production company.
  • 40,000 square foot warehouse space
  • Projected that facility will produce 5 million gallons of bio diesel annually
  • designed to accommodate an expansion to over 10 million gallons of bio diesel annually.
  • Initial employment is estimated at 12 or more.
