Councilmember Susan Talamantes Eggman

After serving in the Army Medical Core, she earned a BA in Psychology and Master's in Social Work from CSU Stanislaus, while working as a substance abuse and mental health counselor and as a Hospice Social Worker.

Dr. Eggman received her PhD in Social Work and Social Research from Portland State University. She is an Associate Professor at Sacramento State University in the Division of Social Work and volunteers her time running a student internship program at St Mary's Interfaith.

She has a small clinical practice, is well published, and frequently conducts cultural competence training around Northern California for health care facilities. Her community involvement includes:

• Wastewater Collection System 9 Improvement Project
  Construction of sewer facilities to serve the northeast Stockton area between Hammer Lane/Foppiano Lane and Alpine Avenue/Stockton Diverting Canal, an area designated as the Wastewater Collection System 9 Service Area.

• Unifirst Commercial Laundry Expansion - 125 W. Flora Street
  This facility was expanded by 50,000 square feet in 2004. 200 employees, when completely built out.
• Teen Center - 725 N. El Dorado Street
  The Teen Center provides a variety of recreational activities which may include bowling, a computer lounge, café, and special events. (scheduled to open in November 2004)
• SJRTD Transit Center
  On July 30, 2004, construction workers began removing the first of several buildings on California Street between Channel Street and Weber Avenue.  This is the first step in the construction process for the DTC, which will serve as RTD's main transfer hub in downtown Stockton.
