Councilmember Elbert H. Holman, Jr.
Councilmember Holman was appointed to the Stockton City Council on January 7, 2009. He will serve the remainder of the 2007 – 2010 term of office originally held by Councilmember Steve Bestolarides, who was elected to the San Joaquin County Board of Supervisors in November 2008.
Councilmember Holman is a life-long resident of the City of Stockton. He gradated from Edison High School and continued his education with coursework at both California State University – San Luis Obispo (Cal Poly) and University of the Pacific (UOP).
Councilmember Holman is currently retired, having served 34 years in law enforcement, 20 years with the San Joaquin County Sheriff Department and 14 years at the San Joaquin County District Attorney’s Office, with the last five years as Chief Investigator. He is a graduate of the FBI National Academy in Quantico, Virginia. |
His focus will be on the many challenges facing Stockton, including growth, budget, redevelopment, job creation, and reducing crime.
Councilmember Holman is an active member of the community, a member of the NAACP, Rotary International and Stockton Sunrise Rotary, vocalist and elder in his church. He and his wife of over 40 years, Marcia, have two adult daughters and seven grandchildren. |
