Community Development Department

The Community Development Department is responsible for establishing policies and goals for long-range plans to provide for the orderly growth of the community, management of the Permit Center, promotion and preservation of architecturally and historically significant resource, and providing staff support services to the Cultural Heritage Board.

                                                                   

The Community Development staff directs and coordinates the activities of the Building and Planning Divisions to ensure that applicable codes and laws are implemented and the directives of the City Council and City Manager are carried out.


On December 11, 2007, the City Council held its fifth and final session to conclude the Public Hearing for the 2035 General Plan. The Plan was adopted.

Permit Center
The Permit Center consists of Building, Planning, Public Works (planning/permit admin.), Fire Prevention, and Municipal Utilities.

The Mission of the Permit Center is to serve the public by providing courteous, accurate and timely planning, development and inspection services to build a thriving, prosperous and safe community that enhances the quality of life for all residents of the City of Stockton.
