The Planning Division is responsible for the effectuation of the General Plan through the administration of the Zoning Code, Subdivision Map Act, municipal ordinances, California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA), Administration of the City's Annexation program, and special studies as are deemed appropriate.

The Planning Division staff supports the Planning Commission and City Council on planning matters.


City of Stockton Climate Action Plan

The City of Stockton is currently in the process of developing a Climate Action Plan to help mitigate the amount of greenhouse gas (GHG) emission within our city.


General Plan

On December 11, 2007, the City Council held its fifth and final session to conclude the Public Hearing for the 2035 General Plan.

Charter Way becomes Dr Martin Luther King, Jr., Bl

Effective January 1, 2009, the section of Charter Way between State Route 99 and Interstate 5, has officially been renamed, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard.

The Stockton City Council adopted Resolution 03-0709 on November 25, 2003 approving the street name change for the portion of Charter Way located between State Route 99 and Interstate 5 to the dual name of Dr Martin Luther King, Jr Boulevard and Charter Way.  A transition period of five years was provided to allow businesses and residents to make the appropriate changes.

The address ranges of change are:

1-  699 W CHARTER WY has been replaced with

1-  699 W DR MARTIN LUTHER KING JR BL


1- 3699 E CHARTER WY has been replaced with

1- 3699 E DR MARTIN LUTHER KING JR BL
