and Education Action Team - YEAT

YEAT has completed the following actions the 2005/2006 Fiscal Year:
- youth leadership academy
- development of a teen resource guide
- asset building classes
- Youth In Government Day
- various community projects
- a teen summit
- middle school outreach activities
- development of a Y.E.A.T. brochure to promote
our efforts in the corporate world, and
- development of a youth coalition
The Youth Education Action Team (YEAT) meets on the second Thursday of every month at the Podesto IMPACT Teen Center, 725 N. El Dorado Street. Meetings begin at 4 p.m
The Youth Education and Action Team (YEAT) focus
is to engage Stockton youth and to build on and foster
youth assets. YEAT activities include getting youth
involved in City activities with the view that they
will become active stakeholders in our community.
YEAT has developed projects that focus on asset
building, youth development through leadership, providing
teens with resources, recruiting, and community projects.
In addition, YEAT is co-sponsoring a Youth-in-Government
event to help high school students become more knowledgeable
about City government.
YEAT is committed
to providing safe and positive alternative activities
for youth and is committed to cooperation, integration
and increased effectiveness of all youth services
within the City of Stockton.
YEAT Goals
- YEAT is committed to cooperation, integration, and increased efficiency of local services for youth and teens within the City of Stockton.
- Help youth get more involved in City activities.
- Help youth have more of a stake in their community.
- Provide safe and positive alternative activities to engage youth.
- Identify activities that already engage youth in order to determine ways to build on current successes.
