Midtown/Magnolia Action Team - MMAT

Chair: Christine Tien, Deputy City Manager
Coordinator: Alicia Duer
Assistant: Patty Vasquez

Under the strategic planning of the Magnolia Advisory Group and Magnolia/Midtown Action Team, The Magnolia Historic District is experiencing a make over and some of the accomplishments include:

  • the exterior restoration of the Magnolia Mansion
  • construction of the Valley Mountain Regional Center and Pittman K-8 School at University Park
  • construction of a new gateway, wrought iron fencing, and pedestrian access points.
  • a Building Incentive Pilot Program (BIPP) was created,
  • a Design Center developed as a resource for midtown residents interested in renovating their homes or for people interested in purchasing homes in the MAG area, and
  • a tri-fold marketing brochure, marketing video, traveling display case,
  • development of an official Midtown logo "live, learn, work and walk”.
The Magnolia/Midtown Action Team (MMAT) is the steering committee for Chair Gary Giovanetti’s Midtown/Magnolia Advisory Group (MAG). The goal of MAG is to revitalize the midtown area by promoting the “live, work, walk, learn” concept, encouraging owner-occupancy and emphasizing the historic significance of the area. The midtown area is bordered by Miner Avenue to the South, UPRR to the East, El Dorado Street to the West and Harding Way to the North.
